What is Radiomics?

The first thing that we will do with the magnetic resonance imagings is put them through an algorithm we call Radiomics. Since a computer can't understand images very well, what Radiomics does is turn the magnetic resonance imagings into numbers. It interprets what the images show and extracts some stats from them. You don't have to worry about this step, as it always works the same independently of the image uploaded. The part that concerns you comes now. And the problem is, that Radiomics takes way too many variables from the images, and we need to simplify them. Whenever a new machine is trained, there are so many numbers that some are just not worth taking into consideration. For instance, one of the variables will probably be our patient's date of birth. While the year will be relevant to our diagnostic, since there's a lot of difference between a patient born in 1960 and one born in 1995, the day in which they were born has so little influence in the patient's risk of having a heart attack that our machine will ignore it. This leads us to the second step.
